After 20 years of farming, Enfield Farms recognized a need for the cultivation of consistently premium raspberries. In 1997, Enfield Farms and partners started Northwest Plant Company, a locally run business designed to provide top quality disease-free raspberry and blackberry nursery stock.  Since then, the company has grown vastly.  In cooperation with New Zealand Institute for Plant & Food Research, Northwest Plant Company has developed an intensive breeding program with the goal of finding and introducing new superior raspberry cultivars for the Pacific Northwest.  In 2009, they successfully developed their first raspberry variety, Wake™Field, and in 2011, Enfield Farms became sole owners of the company.
